Why I Use Fresh Fitness Food and Recommend It To My Clients

Recently, we caught up with one of our affiliates Robert Jackson, to discuss why he uses Fresh Fitness Food both for himself, but also for his clients.

Robert is the owner of Minimal FiT Canary Wharf, London. He specialises in working with time-poor working professionals to help them get the most out of the time they have for training.

Balancing work, family, fitness and food can be a challenge even at the best of times. Trying to conjure up exciting, tasty meals with the required range of nutrients requires a lot of time, effort and skill.

Thinking about how to create a well-balanced ratio of carbs, fats and proteins stresses me out more often than not. That’s why I leave it to the experts!

How Fresh Fitness Food Works for Me

I work long hours as a personal trainer, often from early in the morning. Therefore, finding the time to prepare meals is tough. On top of that, I have been a keen cyclist for the past 6 years and need a significant amount of time to train for events.

Knowing that when I get up in the morning there will be a fresh set of well-balanced meals waiting for me takes a huge weight off my mind. It also means I don’t make decisions, such as grabbing a croissant (or two) on the way to work!

The bag is waiting for me at my flat door after being delivered overnight. Therefore, I can get up, get ready and grab my cooler bag. It’s so easy and convenient.

I often eat the meals cold, but they can also be heated up if I’m feeling I need a warmer meal. There is no prep at all. Plus, no washing up either, which is a massive bonus!

Meal Preparation for Cycling

Training for cycling events, such as L’Etape du Tour, requires lots of hours spent in the saddle. This involves preparing your mind and body for 6+ hours of non-stop cycling. This means I need a large amount of food to fuel the rides but also recover effectively.

With Fresh Fitness Food, I know exactly what I am getting and can adjust the amount of carbs and protein to make sure I’m feeling good and ready to ride.

When I’m cycling, I’ll be burning around 700 to 1,000 calories per hour, depending on how hard I’m pushing. So a 2-3 hour ride means I need an extra 2-3,000 calories that day alone. That’s on top of the approximately 3,000 I need daily based on factors like my usual activity level, age, weight, height, etc.

As a side note, I went to do a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test to find out exactly how many calories I needed as a minimum. The test showed that I needed 2,200 per day if I was to sit still and do nothing. Moving around a lot as a personal trainer easily bumps that up to 3,000+ a day.

Note calorie requirements vary a great deal from person to person. We would always recommend a personalised approach to this. Our team of nutritionists are on hand if you need any assistance. Book a call here.

Fresh Fitness Food, Snacks & Variety

I find it easiest to use Fresh Fitness Food for the larger meals of the day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). I then supplement with my own snacks. These include things like nuts, oats, protein shakes or some fruit. This means I can hit my calorie goals without it becoming boring.

Having said that, I also love the booster shots and snacks! I do change it up to include those every now and again too.

I often found I was cooking the same boring meals such as chicken and sweet potato. As a result, switching to Fresh Fitness Food meals was an exciting event. I always know the meals will be different, which is a good thing. The meals have such a wider range of ingredients than I would ever use myself, so it helps my body get a larger range of nutrients and vitamins.

Why I Recommend Fresh Fitness Food to Clients

I find a lot of my clients end up eating the same foods and without much control over portion sizes. With the freshly made meals they receive from FFF, they get foods they would not always eat and know their portion sizes are spot on for them.

Most of my clients are busy working professionals. This often means they don’t have the time, desire or skill to carefully plan and create a well-balanced set of meals for the week. Having the meals turn up at their door ready to eat makes life so much easier for them.

It’s one less thing to worry about so we can focus on the training and leave the food and nutrition to the experts. We all know that without the right nutrition, hitting our targets from training alone is almost impossible. Having an easy way to get the food side of it nailed down saves time, money and a lot of stress.

Fresh Fitness Food provides personalised meal plans delivered straight to your door. This ensures not only that you have the nutrients you need to manage your stress levels, but also that you have the time usually spent shopping, cooking and washing up, to engage in your favourite stress-reducing activity.
